Elon Musk Hints at Flying Car During Joe Rogan Experience Appearance
Elon Musk appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and teased what could be Tesla’s most ambitious project yet—a flying car. During the wide-ranging conversation, Musk referenced Peter Thiel’s famous quote about the future being supposed to have flying cars, then hinted that Tesla may be working on making that vision a reality.
When Joe Rogan pressed Musk directly about whether he’s “actively considering” an electric flying car with retractable wings, the Tesla CEO remained cryptic. “I can’t do the unveil before the unveil,” Musk said, adding that he believes the product “has a shot at being the most memorable product unveil ever.”
Tesla Roadster Demo Coming Soon
The flying car discussion emerged while Musk was promoting the upcoming Tesla Roadster, which he described as featuring “crazy technology” that is “crazier than anything James Bond.” Musk stated he is “getting close” to a demo of the prototype—“hopefully before the end of the year”—and promised it would be “unforgettable.”
The announcement comes amid renewed interest in Tesla’s long-delayed Roadster project, which received particular attention after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman cancelled his pre-order just a day before Musk’s podcast appearance.
What This Means for the Future of Transportation
While Musk remains tight-lipped on specifics, the teaser suggests Tesla may be exploring technologies beyond traditional electric vehicles. Whether the company can deliver on such an ambitious concept remains to be seen, but the CEO’s confidence in the upcoming product unveil indicates Tesla has something substantial in development.
Enthusiasts and skeptics alike will be watching closely for any concrete announcements as 2025 draws to a close.
