Slate, the upstart automaker known for its barebones approach to electric vehicles, is adding a bold splash of color to its lineup. The company has partnered with Crayola — the legendary crayon brand — to offer five custom vehicle wraps in some of the most recognizable hues from the Crayola crayon box.

Until now, Slate’s minimalist electric truck has largely adhered to Henry Ford’s less-than-colorful maxim: you can have it in any color you like, so long as it’s black or grey. The utilitarian EV, praised for its affordable price point and no-frills design, has left customization-loving buyers wanting for something more expressive.

That changes with the new Crayola partnership. Slate is now offering five wraps drawn from Crayola’s famous palette:

Cerulean (a vivid blue)
Dandelion (bright yellow)
Fern (rich green)
Razzmatazz (bold pink)
Jersey Tomato (deep red)

Each wrap allows owners to give their Slate EV a personality as colorful as a fresh box of 64 crayons.

What’s in the Crayola Starter Pack

Slate designed its truck from the ground up to be wrapped, and the Crayola collaboration goes beyond just a vinyl recolor. When buyers opt for a Crayola “starter pack,” they get not only the full-vehicle wrap but also a matching key fob cap, a clip-on dashboard Slatelet (a small custom icon doodad), and complimentary decals.

According to Slate’s announcement, the customization option is part of a broader push to offer extensive personalization on top of the base model.

How to Get One

Getting your Slate EV wrapped in Crayola color requires two steps. First, prospective owners must pre-order their vehicle with a $300 deposit. Once the order is placed, they can head to the Slate Marketplace and pick their preferred Crayola shade. The wrap package adds $1,550 to the final price — a reasonable premium for a head-turning, factory-backed custom look.
