Just two days before Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, prolific leaker Evan Blass has dropped a comprehensive set of renderings and specs for the upcoming Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 — and the upgrades appear significant.

Blass, who runs the Leakmail Substack, published a slew of renderings depicting the new flagship smartwatch from multiple angles, alongside a detailed spec sheet that paints a picture of meaningful generational improvements over the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra.

A Thinner, Tougher Design

The most immediately notable change is the chassis. According to the leaked specs, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is 12% thinner than its predecessor. While the original Galaxy Watch Ultra was already a capable outdoor companion, shaving off thickness should make the new model more comfortable for all-day and sleep tracking wear.

Durability also gets a notable bump. The leak indicates an IP69K dust- and water-resistance rating, up from the IP68 rating on the 2025 model. IP69K certification means the watch can withstand high-pressure, high-temperature water jets — a spec typically reserved for industrial equipment and serious outdoor gear.

Brighter Display, Bigger Battery

The display is getting a substantial brightness upgrade. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is said to reach 5,000 nits of peak brightness, a sharp jump from the 3,000 nits on the previous generation. This would make the watch far more readable in direct sunlight — a key consideration for hikers, runners, and anyone who spends significant time outdoors.

Battery life should also see a meaningful improvement. The leak lists an 800 mAh battery, representing a 36% capacity increase over the 590 mAh cell found in the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra. Combined with a more power-efficient chipset, this could translate to multi-day battery life even with the always-on display enabled.

Snapdragon Wear Elite Under the Hood

Performance-wise, Blass claims the watch will be powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset, corroborating a separate leak from last week via Android Authority. This new platform is expected to deliver faster app loading, smoother animations, and improved power efficiency compared to earlier Wear OS chips.

Interestingly, the same chip is also expected to appear in the upcoming Galaxy Watch 9, according to a separate leak from Blass published by Android Headlines. This suggests Samsung is standardizing on Qualcomm’s latest wearable silicon across its 2026 smartwatch lineup.
