Public Betas for iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, and More Apple Platforms Now Available

Adventurous early adopters, your moment has arrived: the first public betas of Apple’s 2027 software updates are finally here. Previews of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, and watchOS 27 are now available to be installed directly on your device, giving users an early look at the biggest changes coming to Apple’s ecosystem this fall.

Siri AI and Apple Intelligence

The headliner of iOS 27 is the long-awaited Siri AI overhaul. The new version transforms Apple’s voice assistant from a basic command system into a modern AI assistant capable of holding natural conversations, understanding follow-ups, answering questions about content on the screen, and performing multi-step actions inside apps. On recent Apple devices, users can even customize the expressiveness of the assistant’s voice. There’s also a dedicated Siri app that stores your history.

Siri AI is available in the public beta for all Apple Intelligence-capable devices. In the early developer betas, there was a waitlist to access the new assistant, so some patience may be required. The new Siri only works in English for now, and it won’t initially be available in the EU.

Beyond Siri, Photos gets Spatial Reframing for recomposing images after capture, an Extend feature for outpainting, and an improved Clean Up tool. Image Playground can now generate photorealistic styles.

Speed Boosts and Quality-of-Life Improvements

iOS 27 brings major performance gains: apps launch up to 30 percent faster, new photos appear in the gallery up to 70 percent faster, and AirDrop transfers are up to 80 percent faster. Safari can auto-organize tabs into groups and monitor pages for price changes or restocks with a new Notify Me feature. The Passwords app detects and auto-updates weak credentials, while Shortcuts lets you build automations in natural language. iOS 27 also addresses criticism of last year’s Liquid Glass redesign with readability improvements and a customizable slider.

AirPods users on the beta can install AirPods firmware with a custom equalizer, adaptive audio slider, and new settings menu.

macOS 27 Golden Gate

Siri AI becomes a productivity hub on the Mac, accessible from Spotlight for screen analysis and writing assistance. macOS 27 Golden Gate also brings uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, and refined window shapes as part of Liquid Glass design refinements.

watchOS 27 and iPadOS 27

On the wrist, Siri AI answers questions mid-workout and watchOS 27 adds a Dynamic App Grid, a single-tap gesture for Smart Stack widgets, and menopause tracking. Workout Buddy gains new data insights and Spanish-language support.

On iPadOS 27, Visual Intelligence works with the Apple Pencil — just circle anything on your display to learn about it. External hard drive support gets a significant boost, with Apple claiming file transfers between iPad and an SSD are now up to five times faster and as fast as Finder on Mac.

How to Install

Keep in mind these are early versions of the software. Bugs, battery drain, and other issues will likely pop up. Apple encourages users to use the Feedback app to help optimize the software before the final release. If you want a safer balance between cutting-edge features and stability, it may be worth waiting for at least the second or third public beta.
